Rata Cottage is truly a home away from home and can be described as absolutely charming. Nestled at the end of a long private driveway, the home and its lovely garden are a delightful surprise. The peacefulness of the surroundings is immediately evident, and lush native gardens encircle the property. Everything about this home and property is pleasing to the eye.

An outdoor patio with its glass roof and tensioned awnings enables you to either have the full el fresco feel with all the blinds rolled up, or block out the breeze or inclement weather by rolling them down. Comfortable outdoor furniture makes this a great spot to take an afternoon nap in the sun or read a book, and the 6-burner BBQ makes this area ideal for entertaining in all weather.

The spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area has a simple elegance and is charmingly appointed with comfy furniture and eclectic native artwork. You’ll certainly enjoy preparing meals in the modern well designed kitchen with all the modern easy to use appliances any chef would be happy to cook with. A wood burner adjacent to the kitchen/living room provides cosy winter warmth and there’s always plenty of firewood on hand.

The master bedroom has French doors which open out to the gardens and the surrounding native trees. The second bedroom has one entire wall of windows which makes this a very light and bright room. Each of the three bedrooms is furnished with style and supreme comfort in mind. The en-suite bathroom to the main bedroom is a special feature with its French doors and bi-fold windows which brings the garden into the bathroom and will transport you to an exotic spa as you soak in the luxurious bath that is built for two!

The master bedroom has a queen bed and the guest room has a Californian King which can convert to two king single beds. The third bedroom is a single room. High quality bedding and linen has been provided to maximise your comfort.

A separate well appointed bathroom, which combines the laundry, services the rest of the home.

The owners of this enchanting property have ensured maximum enjoyment of the gardens and outdoors, and aside from the outdoor living room/patio, French doors also lead out to another terrace area from the living room. A perfect spot to enjoy the late afternoon sun.

The property has plenty of space, and off street parking for your cars.

What a little honey… they don’t make them like this anymore! Mabel has been round a bit and can tell a few stories! Recently updated and beautifully furnished she is ready to start her next era – come and be part of that! She has 2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 2 toilets.

Mabel may look small but she’s actually surprisingly roomy and airy. You’ll delight in the stunning views from every window, and she’s literally just 7 paces from back door to water’s edge!

This charming cottage provides you with a very comfortable and stylish base to explore our wonderful area. No matter what the weather you’ll luxuriate in Mabel’s ambience and space. At almost 150 years old she is well versed at having people stay and it shows. Mabel’s of Mill Bay is definitely worth a visit.

Number 8

If you are looking for fantastic views in a quiet spot of Mangonui, a little bit of relaxed luxury and superb ambiance then this house may be what you are looking for. Number 8 is a recently refurbished holiday home sitting at end of quiet drive overlooking the beautiful Mill Bay and Mangonui Harbour. Sit on the covered deck and watch the boats come and go and tides come in and go out. If you fancy a walk you can walk 10 minutes one way to the cafes and boutique shops of the historic village of Mangonui. 15 minutes the other way and you are on the golden shores of Coopers Beach. Perfectly situated for views sun and peace and quiet.
3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. One bedroom has ensuite bathroom and the other two bedrooms share the house bathroom.
Plenty of parking for your car and your boat and only a minute from boat ramp at Mill Bay.
